Baking vegan usually means using a different approach in the recipe to get the ingredients to bind and/or rise….or you can make up a Flax Egg….a little bit daunting at first, but actually quite easy when you know how. You use finely ground flax seeds (which come from Linseeds) – Linwoods do a big pack available from Holland and Barrett for £8.99.
What you do:
- To make one egg, mix 1 tablespoon of finely ground flax seeds with 3 tablespoons of warm water.
- Then chill it for 15 minutes before using
- Just add it to the recipe where you would use one egg.
Top tip:
If you’re baking a cake, also add ½ teaspoon extra baking powder to make the cake lighter!
