This is easy to prepare, tastes great, and looks impressive!
Ingredients:
600g sirloin or rump steak
4 shallots, finely chopped
350 ml (about 12 fl oz) of red wine
1 teaspoon plain flour
1 teaspoon thyme (ideally fresh)
Serves 4
Instructions:
Fry the chopped shallots in oil over a gentle heat for 10 minutes until tender.
Add the flour and cook for a 1 minute gently before adding the red wine and thyme. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes and then strain into a jug.
Place a frying pan over a high heat and leave until almost smoking. Add the steak and leave to cook for 3-5 minutes on one side (depending on desired cooking). Then flip and leave for a 2-3 minutes, pouring over the sauce for the last minute.
Serve.
